Sebastian John Balliro
PartnerSebastian John Balliro was born in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is a graduate of Villanova University and the University of Memphis. Mr. Balliro received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology from Villanova University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his Master of Science (M.S.) in Molecular Biology and Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Memphis, in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed his third year of law school at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida, and has lived in south Florida since graduating law school. His practice has included state and federal criminal defense, complex litigation, international banking and transactions, and major civil litigation.
Prior to entering law school Mr. Balliro received his M.S. in Molecular Biology and was employed by several leading international pharmaceutical firms where he conducted medical research at the University of Tennessee Medical School and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee. During his time in research, Mr. Balliro gained first hand experience and knowledge into the emerging technology and science that would become a staple in the criminal justice arena: DNA. Mr. Balliro has been called upon to provide testimony, evaluation and consultation in cases involving forensic, scientific and DNA evidence throughout the country.
Mr. Balliro began his career as a public defender in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he was assigned to defend some of south Florida’s most violent prisoners. As a felony trial attorney he sharpened his already powerful trial skills and successfully defended thousands of indigent clients. After his term with the state, Mr. Balliro entered into private practice and grew his solo practice into Sebastian Balliro with 7 offices and clients throughout the state of Florida.
In addition to serving the clients of Sebastian Balliro as a senior trial attorney, Mr. Balliro also serves on the board and as general counsel for several national and international corporations, trusts and associations.
Mr. Balliro is a member of the State Bar of Florida, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Broward County Bar Association, Collier County Bar Association, the Lee County Bar Association, and a NRA referral attorney.
Mr. Balliro is admitted in the State of Florida United States District Court, Southern District of Florida United States District Court, Middle District of Florida United States District Court, Northern District of Florida United States District Court, and United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
