Miami criminal defense attorney David S. Seltzer is a native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He came to the United States to attend Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, where he graduated a semester early in 2001 with a major in business and a minor in pre-law. Before law school, David took a job as a paralegal in New York City, working on a major products liability case.

David started his law degree at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. After spending two semesters in the top 10% of his class, he made the choice to transfer to the University of Miami School of Law, graduating with a law degree in 2004. During that time, he interned at the State's Attorney's office in Miami-Dade, an experience that led to a full-time job as a prosecutor after law school.

During his time at the State's Attorney's office, David handled cases ranging from misdemeanors and juvenile crimes to serious felonies. Among the serious cases he handed were felony assault and battery, child abuse, DUIs, drug trafficking, lewd and lascivious crimes against minors and sexual battery. After initial successes, he was asked to join the office's Cyber Crimes unit, where he prosecuted serious crimes using computers, the Internet and other emerging technology. His cases included online solicitation of a minor, possession, promotion and distribution of child pornography, unauthorized access to computer networks ("hacking"), transmission of material harmful to minors and insurance fraud. Thanks to this assignment, David gained valuable experience and insight into the way cyber crimes are investigated, prosecuted and defended, as well as with computer forensics and the legal and technical details of investigating computer crimes. This experience has helped him immeasurably as a Fort Lauderdale cyber crimes criminal defense attorney, giving him technical and procedural knowledge that many law enforcement officers and prosecutors lack.

David eventually went out on his own as a South Florida criminal defense attorney, specializing in defending Floridians facing all types of criminal and cyber crime charges. His experience as an assistant State's Attorney has been invaluable, helping him understand exactly where to find weaknesses and flaws in prosecutors' cases. In court, David is an aggressive and insightful advocate for his clients; at the negotiating table, he has resolved many cases successfully without putting his clients through the pain and expense of a trial. In 2009, he became a partner at Balliro Seltzer LLC. Balliro Seltzer Law has multiple offices in South Florida dedicated to assisting its clients 24/7. Additionally, every attorney in the firm has litigation experience as either a former prosecutor public defender, which allows us to better serve our clients needs.

David is admitted to practice in the state of Florida, the District of Columbia, as well as the federal District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He is a member of the State Bar of Florida, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and BNI Miami-Dade, as well as charitable organizations including Future Point.
